The Jackson's KO BBQ Sauce
Red Deck Review of Jackson’s KO Sauce
Overall description of the sauce is that it has has a thick consistency. It is tomato based, sweet, and mildly spicy. The taste is unique with hints of a cinnamon like warmness and a bit of apple notes. It is truly a unique blend.
Packaging:
I love it! Jackson’s KO sauce’s boxing theme is unique and the bottle is pleasant to look at. The logo fits in well with the theme and it is not over done either.
Best uses:
Beef…I love this on beef. It adds to the flavor, it is balanced, and most importantly, you can still taste the meat. It is the right balance of sugar, spice and vinegar.
Other uses and notes:
Overall the sauce partners well with pork, chicken, and beef. Where it doesn’t work as well is meat with a bold spice rub. Due to it unique flavor, it can be mismatched with certain runs that are garlicky.
Final thoughts.
1. I love it! It passes the brisket test. The sauce has to both stand on its own, because I only use salt and pepper on brisket, and not overpower and take away from the meat. This sauce does that well.
2. Because of the unique flavor, use caution when using bold rubs. My recommendation is use salt and pepper, and let the sauce do the work of adding the flavor!
3. If you are looking for something different, but balanced…this is a great sauce for you. It has some spice, but certainly not enough to keep my 2 year old away from it. It is also keto and vegan friendly, which is a plus for people that are either.
4. The price is fair, lots of specially sauces cost well over $10, and are not nearly as good. The bang for the buck is the best I have encountered yet!
