Red Deck Review: S&S BBQ Rubs

 

Now, being a proud Minnesotan…I may be a bit biased…but my tastebuds sure aren’t! I took a trip to my local BBQ supply store and picked up two of S&S’s products. The first is an all purpose seasoning….

The all purpose was a masterful blend of salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, onion…so good that my wife and children approved. None of them have any tolerance for any type of heat and are continuously using Lawrys’ seasoned salt as their spice of choice. S&S all purpose rub packs more flavor in and doesn't overpower the meat. We buy our beef by the half cow and are careful to select one that is a quality one with the help of our butcher. I want to taste the beef, and S&S’ All Purpose Seasoning does just that…it accentuates the flavor…not covering it up. That is hard to do, and I can’t imagine the time it took to come up with that recipe! I highly recommend!

Next up was S&S’s Butt Dust. I liked it…it was slightly sweet and had a nice chili like flavor on the back end. I tested this on some chicken thighs…even though I know it is for pork…it went really well with the smoked chicken thighs. Once again…it added flavor…and it didn’t over power. The balance on it was good. 

Overall, my tastebuds and I were impressed by the quality of these two products. As an added bonus, I got to buy from a Minnesota business and purchase a Minnesota product. These are worth a try!
